What we make

OSMANTHIA is a fine jewellery house working exclusively in laboratory-grown diamonds and laboratory-created coloured gemstones. Every piece is set in solid precious metal and cut to the same standards applied to mined stones — because they are, materially, the same stones.

We say this plainly on every product page, on every invoice, and in our Terms of Service. A laboratory-grown diamond has the identical chemical, physical and optical properties as one pulled out of the ground. It is not an imitation. It is also not a mined diamond, and we will never let that distinction blur.

Why laboratory-grown

A mined carat carries a long chain of cost that has nothing to do with the stone in your hand — extraction, certification layers, wholesale tiers, and a retail markup built for a showroom with rent to pay. Growing the same crystal in a reactor removes most of that chain.

What is left is the part that actually matters: the cut, the setting, the finish. That is where we spend.

Our approach to sustainability

We would rather tell you exactly what we can stand behind than use words we cannot. So here is the whole of it.

Mined-free. Every diamond and coloured gemstone we sell is grown in a laboratory. No mine was opened, no river diverted, no earth moved to produce it.
Fully traceable. Our stones come directly from the growers and cutters we work with in Asia — no anonymous parcels passed through several hands.
Made to last. We set in solid precious metal and offer a free resize, so a piece can be worn for decades rather than replaced.
Bought with intention. Many of our pieces are one of one. We do not overproduce in order to discount later.

Growing a gemstone takes energy, and we will not claim otherwise. We do not describe our jewellery as "carbon neutral" or "zero impact", because we have not yet measured it to a standard we could show you. When we have independent figures from our growers, we will publish them here.

How we describe our stones

Jewellery is an industry where vague language does a lot of work. We have taken a deliberately narrow line:

Every laboratory-grown or laboratory-created stone is labelled as such, in full, in English — following the US FTC Jewelry Guides (16 CFR Part 23) and CIBJO Blue Book conventions.
Moissanite is called moissanite. It is a beautiful stone and it is not a diamond.
Cubic zirconia is called a simulant, because that is what it is.
We publish grading only where a laboratory has actually issued it. We do not assign colour or clarity grades ourselves, and we do not quote a grade that is not on the certificate in front of us.
Where a piece contains a natural stone, we say so on the product page.

Laboratory-grown gemstones are made to be worn. We sell them as jewellery, not as an investment, and we make no claim about future resale value. Anyone in this category who tells you otherwise is selling you something else.
